Who we are:
High Point Academy is a free public charter school in its third year of operation. Located just off Interstate 26 in Spartanburg County, HPA provides a secure and safe environment for students in kindergarten through 12th grade, who live in South Carolina regardless of assigned school district.
High Point Academy is built on the principles of honor, integrity, and service. Our teacher’s challenge students in an applied learning style of instruction with an emphasis in S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) education as well as character and leadership development. Through a partnership with family and community, each student will strive to achieve their highest potential academically, socially, and personally.
What is a charter school?
Charter schools are state funded, free public schools that have the flexibility to adapt to the educational needs of individual students.
The purpose of charter schools is:
- Improve student learning
- Increase learning opportunities within the public school system
- Create new teaching opportunities attracting new teachers
- Establish new forms of accountability for public schools
- Encourage innovative and different learning methods

South Carolina is now ranked 12th in the nation for Charter School Law. The state is seeking to improve education on all levels and lead the nation in educational choices.
