Message From Superintendent Bricker

Dear Parent/Guardian,

The Holidays are just around the corner and with that brings a lot of cheer and joy. I want to take this opportunity to wish each and every High Point Academy family, a joyful and peaceful holiday season. We are at a very challenging time with this pandemic, and we will continue to do what is safe for our students, staff, and families.

Ever since our school began to announce our Returning to Learning plans this summer, we have been clear about our desire to have in-person school as much as possible. All of our school staff--teachers, nurses, custodians, administrators, and more--have been working extremely hard to create school environments where it was difficult for the virus to spread. For the most part, they have been successful.

However, our plans for in-person school rely on the availability of enough students and staff to operate schools effectively. For this, we rely not only on our schools' safe environments but also on our surrounding community's effort to contain the spread of COVID-19.
Over the past two weeks, the number of students and employees under state-mandated quarantine orders has increased rapidly. We investigate each case and take action needed to continue to stay safe very seriously.

As our school staff works extremely hard each day to make our school environment safe, I would ask that as we move forward into the holidays, you respect those efforts by taking precautions in the community. Specifically, you can help in five ways:

  1. Wear a mask in public.
  2. Avoid large indoor gatherings.
  3. Stay home/keep your child home when sick.
  4. Get tested immediately if you display symptoms of COVID-19.
  5. Communicate with your child's principal or school nurse if your child or someone in your home has been exposed to COVID-19.

Our ability to continue in-person school depends on getting the virus under control in our community. We would love to all come back for in-person learning on January 5, 2021, so please help us keep up the effort to bring our schools and community back to normal. Thank you for your efforts thus far, and again, wishing you a wonderful holiday season with family!

Respectfully,
J. Brodie Bricker, PhD
