New Director of Communications Announced

Connie LeGrand, a public relations, media relations, and marketing expert, has joined High Point Academy as Director of Communications and Marketing. She took over the role on January 4, 2021, as the public charter school's internal and external communications leader. LeGrand takes over for Kevin Mason, who left HPA to accept a position with the Public Charter School Alliance of South Carolina.

"I met Connie more than a decade ago when she was covering education for Channel 7," says High Point Academy Superintendent Brodie Bricker, a well-known education leader in the Upstate and South Carolina. "We are so pleased to have such an engaging and familiar communicator join our team. Connie knows and loves this community and is passionate about helping students succeed. With her world-class communication and marketing skills, we are certain she will have a profound, positive impact on how we share the unique and wonderful things going on at High Point Academy. We are looking forward to taking things to the next level in 2021," says Bricker.

LeGrand is a former news anchor for WSPA-TV, WHNS-Fox Carolina, and the Speed Channel. She also served as Director of Marketing & Public Relations for Mary Black Health System. Connie holds a marketing degree from Clemson University and a master's degree from the University of Georgia. LeGrand is an Emmy award-winning writer and graduate of Leadership Spartanburg. She has volunteered for many local organizations, including Mobile Meals and the Alzheimer's Association.
