SPARTANBURG, SC – It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of board member Broncher Hosley on Friday, August 27, 2021. An educator for 42 years, Ms. Hosley served on the High Point Academy Board of Directors for seven years, the last four as secretary.

“Broncher was more than a board member,” said Board Chair Rob Gouge. “She was a true friend. Her smile and personality were always bright and cheerful, and she genuinely cared for the people who surrounded her. Broncher was an incredible leader. She had a keen sense of discernment for truth, and she was a tremendous asset to High Point Academy. We will greatly miss her smile, her leadership, and her presence.”

Ms. Hosley was a pioneer in education as one of the first African American teachers in public schools following integration. She strived to make sure each student left her class performing far above the average academic level.  She loved to vacation in Charleston, read and crochet. Ms. Hosley was 73 years old.

A homegoing celebration will be held Saturday, September 4, at 2 p.m. at Foster’s Grove Baptist Church in Chesnee, South Carolina.
