Congratulations to HPA Teacher, Mr. Mark Manigo, for receiving the Facilitator of the Year from My Brother's Keeper! We are so proud of him and the students he mentors in this after-school program. The HPA chapter of My Brother's Keeper meets after school on Thursdays.
"Expanding the community’s capacity and broadening the teen pregnancy prevention approach to include promotion of positive youth development and co-occurrences of health disparities, Connect collaborated with My Brother’s Keeper to launch a new after school program for African American males. Understanding that addressing individual level factors such as mental health and broader contextual factors such as neighborhood safety can affect adolescent behaviors and outcomes. My Brothers Keeper launched Aban Aya (Ghanaian for protection and self-determination), a model that includes mentoring and weekly curriculum (5th- 8th)."
