High Point Academy was honored to welcome former professional baseball player Chris Singleton in honor of Black History Month. Singleton became a nationally renowned inspirational speaker with his message, "Love is Stronger than Hate," following the death of his mother during a mass shooting at a church in Charleston in 2015.
In an interview with WYFF-TV before he spoke with the students, he said, "Forgiveness is a superpower." Singleton shared his message of resilience, forgiveness, and unity with high school and middle school students during an assembly in the Performing Arts Center. Before he read a
children's book he authored to the elementary students, he visited with them in the audience and signed a baseball for one student who was absolutely elated (and the envy of his friends).
Said one kindergartener in the audience, "I love Chris Singleton." The little girl sitting next to her looked back at her and said, "I do too." And then they hugged.
