Meet the Teacher and more...
Meet the Teacher

We hope you are enjoying a happy and healthy summer. We are working hard behind the scenes to prepare for the best year yet at High Point Academy as we welcome a record number of students for the 2022-2023 school year!                        The first day of school, Wednesday, August 10, is right around the corner, so we wanted to check in and give you lots of information to help answer your questions for a successful start. Please plan to join us for Meet the Teacher on Monday, August 8. This year we have added two parent information sessions which will include important updates on everything from new car line procedures to a communication tool teachers and staff will use to keep you informed! We will send out more details before that night, but meanwhile, please be sure to save the date.

Our next swap will be during Meet the Teacher, where you can shop the gently used racks. Just fill out this form posted on our website under the Parents & Students/Documents & Forms section, attach it to a bag with your gently used items, and drop it off at the front desk by Thursday, August 4. The front office hours during summer are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES:

Elementary School Supply Lists are posted under the news section of our homepage and Parents & Students/Documents & Forms section of our site. Middle School Supply Lists will be posted soon and high school students will find what will be needed from individual teachers during the first few days of class. In addition, students in grades 6 – 12 receive school-issued laptops to use during the school year.

Also, this year, the PTO has partnered with schooltoolbox.com to help make it easy for elementary school families to avoid the back-to-school crowds and get all of their school supplies in one place, online. Click here for ordering information and prices, also posted on our website. This is just another convenient option to save time and support our PTO.

TAX-FREE WEEKEND:

With the increased cost of living, this year's Sales Tax Holiday is an important date to know when it comes to back-to-school essentials. This year's #SCtaxfree Weekend is set for August 5-7, 2022

FREE OR REDUCED-PRICE LUNCHES:

Last year, the federal government provided free lunches for all students. That program has come to an end, so this year we will be resuming normal procedures for breakfast and lunch purchases. Students need healthy meals to learn. Your children may qualify for free meals or reduced-price meals. For more information, including answers to commonly asked questions, go to the resources section of our Grizzly Café page or click here to apply. For more information, contact our Food Service Director, Ms. Edwards, at 316-9788, ext. 157 or [email protected]

SPIRIT TEAM:

Our Athletic Department will feature a new "crew" to rally the crowds and support Grizzly Nation this year. If you are a high schooler interested in being a member of the Red, White, & Blue Crew -which combines dance and cheer- then you don't want to miss this three-day summer workshop. It's designed to help each candidate succeed at the audition by helping prepare both their body and mind for what's to come. (This workshop will not affect candidate scores at the audition and is not required, but it is highly recommended.)
