SPARTANBURG, SC – High Point Academy (HPA) is pleased to announce the selection of Spartanburg native Jamaal Brown as the Varsity Girls' Basketball Coach for the 2022-2023 season.
Coach Brown is a graduate of Spartanburg High School where he played on the 2001-2002 Class AAAA State Basketball Championship team. He received a full athletic scholarship to Western Kentucky where he participated in the NCAA tournament before attending Cal State Fullerton. There he played in the NIT and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Communications. His vast experience includes working out for 8 NBA teams and playing overseas in Holland, Germany (NBA D-League), Taiwan, and the Dominican Republic before beginning his coaching career at Arkansas Baptist.
Coach Brown earned a Master of Arts in Teaching and a master's degree in Secondary Education. In addition to his coaching duties, Brown will teach physical education. He and his family are looking forward to joining the Grizzly family in the fall.
