We are delighted to announce that HPA has a new Interim Athletic Director for the 2026-2027 school year, a face you already know! Coach Makaylah Plemmons, a.k.a. "Coach Mak," has been our Assistant AD for the last three years, leaving her poised and ready to take the helm of our Athletic Department. Over the years, Coach Mak has become deeply invested in the growth and success of the school, its students, and its athletic programs.
Since arriving at HPA in 2018, Coach Mak has served in a variety of coaching roles and has played a major role in the success of several athletic programs. She has racked up a volume of athletic accolades while pitching in wherever we need her from year to year.
Coach Mak's vision for HPA Athletics centers around building a strong culture of commitment, accountability, and excellence while ensuring student-athletes are supported. She firmly believes that success is measured not only by wins and championships, but also by the academic achievement, character development, and overall well-being of student-athletes. She is passionate about creating an environment where students can succeed in the classroom, compete at a high level, and develop into confident young leaders.
Outside of school, Coach Mak is a proud mother of three beautiful children and is married to a devoted wrestling coach and math teacher. Together, their family has poured countless hours into supporting and growing student-athletes. For Makaylah Plemmons and her family, HPA isn't just a school, it's truly a home and an extended family.
Let’s cheer her for in her new role for the 2026-2027 school year!
