We are thrilled to introduce the HPA Family to our new middle school principal, Mr. Abram Scott. Mr. Scott is an experienced principal with a proven track record of instructional leadership. Mr. Scott holds a Certification in Educational Leadership and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Georgia Southern University, as well as a Bachelor of Science in History with a minor in Political Science from Western Carolina University, where he earned and maintained a full athletic scholarship.
Mr. Scott comes to us from Chester High School. During his tenure at CHS, he demonstrated his instructional leadership by raising the graduation rate by 9% and College and Career Readiness by 6%. These improvements brought the highest test scores CHS had seen in the previous four years. Additionally, Mr. Scott fostered a positive, safe school climate while serving as a Title IX investigator, managed human and financial resources to support student learning, and optimized operational efficiency. He also built and sustained vital partnerships with families, community stakeholders, and business partners, while serving as the primary liaison to the School Improvement Council.
Throughout Mr. Scott’s career in education, he has served as a principal, director of a freshman academy, assistant principal, athletic director, head football coach, teacher, and paraprofessional. Each role has given him deep insight into serving students, staff, parents, and the community, ultimately preparing him for his current role as principal of HPA Middle School. Mr. Scott is excited to join the HPA Family and firmly believes there is nothing the community can’t accomplish when working together.
The teachers who participated on the interview committee expressed universal enthusiasm regarding Mr. Scott. When asked to describe him, a few dominant themes emerged: energy, optimism, inclusivity, family, engagement and much, much more. Mr. Scott will not be entering the HPA Family alone. His wife, Sarah, and their four daughters—Hopelynn (14), Ella-Jane (10), AnnaBelle (8), and Maverick (4)—will be joining him. All four girls will attend HPA this year, and the family is incredibly excited to begin this new journey together.
