Enrollment

Welcome to High Point Academy!
You have a choice.
Choose excellence.

Thank you for your interest in High Point Academy. You have a choice, and we are glad your search for excellence led you to us. We are a tuition-free, STEAM-focused, public charter school serving students in kindergarten through 12th grade who live in South Carolina. We are three schools on one campus, located off Interstate 26 in Spartanburg.

When you choose High Point Academy, you choose academics, athletics, fine arts, and a feeling of family.

Enrollment is a three phase process. First, you must complete an application. Second, a lottery will be held to determine which applications are accepted. More details on the lottery process can be found below.  Once you are accepted, the last step is to complete our online registration.

APPLICATIONS

Students are admitted without regard to race, religion, gender, creed, national origin, disability, or socioeconomic status. New student applications may be completed online. Once submitted, the application will go to our registrar. If you list siblings on the application, please submit a separate application for each child you wish to enroll.

If you have questions about the lottery, enrollment, or current openings, please don't hesitate to call (864) 316-9788 or contact our registrar at [email protected].

Why do parents love High Point Academy?

"My favorite part of the school is how they treat everybody like family and everybody is welcome here."
Kimberly Dawkins, Parent

LOTTERY

Under federal law, charter schools must admit students through a random selection process if the number of applications for a grade or class exceeds the available spaces. If the number of applications does not exceed the available slots, a lottery is not required.

Open enrollment to apply for the lottery is from December 1 through March 13. The HPA lottery will be held on March 25 of every school year. If this day falls on a weekend, the lottery will occur on the first school day following the weekend. After the lottery, students will receive a notification by letter within six days regarding their application status. The remaining students will be placed on the waiting list according to the order they were drawn. A student who turns in a late application will be placed on the waiting list in the order of the date on which their application was received. If a parent wishes to appeal a decision of admission for a reason other than the lottery, a written appeal must be submitted to the South Carolina Public Charter School District.

PRIORITY ENROLLMENT

HPA will prioritize enrollment to siblings of a current student enrolled and attending High Point Academy and children of employees. Additionally, siblings of students accepted through the lottery process are afforded priority enrollment status. However, priority enrollment status does not guarantee a student's admission to HPA, as acceptance remains based on space availability in each applicable grade.

Waiting lists do not carry over from year to year and are only valid for the school year for which the student has applied. Therefore, if a student is not accepted for the current school year and remains on the waiting list, a new application must be submitted to reapply for the lottery the following school year.

Thank you for your interest in High Point Academy! We look forward to meeting you.
