Dear HPA Families/Staff,

Summer break gives students and teachers time to catch their breath, recalibrate, and focus on the future. Behind the scenes, it is often the busiest time of the year for administrators and staff as we strategize and set the stage for a strong, successful school year. This summer intermission is no exception as we prepare to see you soon. Do you know what makes this year really special? High Point Academy opened in 2014 and we will celebrate ten years of serving students!

Family support is essential to student success, so here is some important information to help tee you up for a terrific start.

  • Save the date for Meet the Teacher, and drop in on campus on Monday, August 7, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Students will receive their schedules and teaching assignments and be able to visit classrooms.

  • School supply lists are posted on our website, and to help you save money, South Carolina's annual tax-free weekend runs from August 4 at midnight until August 6 at 11:59 p.m.

  • Our online uniform store* is back in operation after a quick cessation to switch vendors, and our on-campus uniform store is stocked and ready to serve you this summer. It will be open for the next two weeks, Monday through Thursday, starting Monday, July 17,  through Thursday, July 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

*Please note that online orders placed during the summer will be filled and ready for pick up at Meet the Teacher

  • We know how quickly students can outgrow uniforms, and our PTO Uniform Swap can save you money on gently used items! The PTO Uniform Swap will be available during the same summer hours as our on-campus store, Monday through Thursday, in the main lobby, starting Monday, July 17, through Thursday, July 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. You can also send in your students' outgrown uniforms to receive tickets for the Uniform Swap during Meet the Teacher. Please bag your students' gently used uniform items and drop them off at the front desk (Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.). Click here for the form that must be included in the bag. Tickets may also be used to purchase new items in the uniform store. For more information, please contact Ms. Broadhead at [email protected].

We are excited to report that we are on course to start the first day of school, Wednesday, August 9, with a record number of students, a skilled and top-notch staff of educators, and the groundwork for unprecedented growth. To ensure students have the nutrition they need to succeed, HPA will offer complimentary breakfast and lunch to every student during the 2023-2024 school year. That is just one of the changes you will see as we embark on another year of excellence.

This summer, we have several facilities projects underway that are crucial to our day-to-day operations and our curb appeal. In the weeks ahead, you will see the old bank building at the main entrance come down, the potholes filled up, and landscapers leveling a plan to enhance our exterior.

High Point Academy could only do what we do with the support and guidance of our Board of Directors. We deeply appreciate the service of our outgoing and incoming board members as we welcome Genna-Jo Parker as our new Chairman of the Board! Matt Nestberg will serve as Vice Chairman, Ann Marie Israel, Treasurer, and Lateka Benson, Secretary.

To our new incoming families - welcome to the HPA Family! We know you have a choice. Thank you for choosing High Point Academy and for your support in making this school year the best yet. See you at Meet the Teacher and until then, enjoy the rest of the summer, and keep an eye on our website for updates.

All the best,

Brian Sherman

Superintendent
